Install Information Governance Server updates

Updates to your IG Server are provided by Clearswift, and are highlighted on the Updates page when they become available. Updates are included for the following:

• Clearswift IG Server
• RedHat package updates

How do I...

• Find out what updates have been installed and if any new updates are available?

  From the toolbar, click System > Updates > Current Versions.

  The update status will be displayed. Expand each package for more information.

• Install updates?

  If you have access to the system console of your IG Server, you can follow the steps as described below to complete this task. If you only have remote access, you should enable an SSH session first. Show me how

  To enable an SSH session:

  1. From the Home page, click System > Security > SSH Access.

     SSH configuration options are displayed.

  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select the Enable SSH access check box, and type the IP or hostname of the SSH client you want to use to connect to your IG Server.
  4. Click Save.

  5. From the SSH client, connect to your IG Server.

  Leaving SSH access enabled for extended periods might represent a security risk. You should consider disabling SSH when not using it.

  1. Log on to a Terminal session using the administrator account credentials that were created during the initial installation.
  2. Type the following:

     $ sudo su -
     # igp-apply-updates <type> 

     where <type> is one of:

     --all

     --security-only

     The --security-only type only applies RHEL7 security updates. If you also want to update the IG Server, set the type to --all.

  3. The updates are downloaded and installed. During the update, some processes may become slow or unavailable.

  4. Some updates require the system to be restarted for the update to take effect. This can be done with the following:

     # reboot

  For installations using a remote PostgreSQL database, the database will also need updating.Show me

  Installations not using remote PostgreSQL database can ignore this section. To find out if your installation is using a remote or local database, open the database settings page in the default browser user interface.

  1. Log on to a Terminal session of the database server using the administrator account credentials that were created during the initial installation.

  2. Type the following:

     $ sudo su -
     # yum update

  3. The updates are downloaded and installed. During the update, some processes may become slow or unavailable.
  4. Some updates require the system to be restarted for the update to take effect. This can be done with the following:

  # reboot
