About PMM Authentication

Personal Message Management (PMM) enables users to personally manage their held messages. In order to ensure that only authorized users can access their data, PMM Portal (Full Mode) can be configured to authenticate users.

Authenticating users

When a user connects to the PMM Portal, the Gateway contacts the Domain Controller associated with the user's domain. The Domain Controller is used to authenticate users and retrieve user information.

Often, a network may consist of a number of sub-domains, organized within a domain forest. In this scenario, PMM users are authenticated in the same way, as each sub-domain has a trust relationship with the Domain Controller.

To configure authentication across the domain, the Gateway must be connected to the Domain Controller.

• Add a Domain Controller – enables you to specify the name of the Domain and Domain Controller to which the Gateway connects.
• Modify a Domain Controller – enables you to modify the details of a specified Domain Controller.
