Backing Up a Configuration

You can export previously applied Gateway configurations from the Configuration History to a location of your choice. This is useful for archiving changes made to your security policy, as well as providing an external backup of your system configuration.

Export your configuration before you install an upgrade. This ensures you have a backup available if you need to restore a previous version of the software.

How do I...

Backup a Configuration?
1. From the Home page, click System > Backup & Restore.
2. Select the Configuration History tab. The tab displays details of the most recently applied configurations.
3. Select the configuration you want to export.
4. In the Task Panel, click Backup the selected Configuration.
5. Save the configuration file to a suitable location on your computer.
Email a Configuration?
1. From the Home page, click System > Backup & Restore.
2. Select the Configuration History tab. The tab displays details of the most recently applied configurations.
3. Select the configuration you want to email.
4. Select Mail the Configuration from the task panel.
5. Specify the recipient(s) and the subject line in the Send Configuration to? dialog box, .
6. Click Send.

Configuration backup and restore applies only to your system configuration. It does not include other elements such as held messages, message tracking data,the reporting database, or Gateway logs. These can be archived for disaster recovery purposes using System Backup & Restore
