Monitoring System Alarms

Alarms are raised by Clearswift Gateway components that monitor the state of the system. Their purpose is to flag conditions that the administrator should be aware of. Alarms range from indications that a new upgrade is available, warnings that there is a problem with the system such as low disk space, to warnings about hardware problems such as disk failure.

Alarms are displayed on the System Alarms tab on the Logs & Alarms page. You can also configure the Gateway to send notifications to a specified SNMP management station or email address when alarm conditions occur.

How do I...

• View alarms?

  1. From the Home page click the System tab > Logs & Alarms. The Logs & Alarms page is displayed.
  2. Click the System Alarms tab. Raised alarms are displayed at the top of the list.

  Raised alarms are also listed on the Clearswift Gateway Home page task panel, and on the System Health page. Use the Alarm History tab to view the last 100 raised or cleared alarms.

• Clear alarms from the Alarm list?

  1. Select the alarm you want to clear from the list on the System Alarms tab.
  2. Click Clear the selected alarm.

  To clear all the current raised alarms, click Clear All Alarms in the task panel.

  You cannot clear alarms related to disk space, memory, CPU, service failure or message limits.

• Configure the Gateway to send notifications when an alarm is raised?

  You can configure notifications to a specified SNMP management station or email address from the Configuration tab on the Logs & Alarms page. For detail on setting up these configurations, see the Configuring SNMP and Email Alarm Notifications topic.
