Encrypt email using a mail policy content rule

You can configure the Email Gateway to apply encryption if certain content is detected in an email message (for example, confidential material or a particular file type).

The following tutorial shows you how to encrypt email containing a specific word or phrase such as the name of a new product.

  1. Create a new lexical expression list called Product name that contains the word or phrase that you want to search for.

  2. Create a new content rule called Detect product name that uses your new lexical expression list.

  3. Set the disposal action for your new content rule to Deliver the message > Applying encryption endpoint policy.

  4. Create one or more encryption endpoints to be applied to all recipients on the mail policy route.

  5. Apply your new content rule to a mail policy route.
