Deleting a Message Annotation

References to Web policy content are only available when a Web Gateway is included in the peer group.

You can delete a Message Annotation if you no longer need it.

You cannot delete a Message Annotation that is referenced in a content rule.

To delete a Message Annotation

  1. From the Policy Center Home page, click Message Annotations. The Manage Message Annotations page appears, listing the existing Message Annotations.

  2. Select the Message Annotation you wish to delete.

Before deleting your selected Message Annotation, you should ensure that no content rules are using it:

    • If no content rules are using it, then a gray tick () appears next to the name of the Message Annotation.
    • If it is being used by a content rule(s), then a green tick () appears next to the name of the Message Annotation. To view which content rule(s) are using the selected Message Annotation, click Edit. The Usage panel displays the content rule(s) using the Message Annotation. Edit these content rules to remove references to the selected Message Annotation from any Annotate the Message What to Do? Actions. For information on editing a content rule, see Working with content rules.

  3. Once you are satisfied that no content rules are using the selected Message Annotation, click Delete.

When you have finished modifying your content security policy you must apply the configuration for any changes to take effect. If the Gateways are configured as a group, any group changes should be applied to each Gateway.
