Managing Clearswift Gateway Services

Services are programs that perform low-level functions to support other programs on the system. From the Service Control page you can view the status of the Clearswift Gateway system services, and stop, start or restart the ones under manual control.

It may be useful to temporarily stop or to restart some services when housekeeping or troubleshooting. For example, if your inbound mail server is disabled you may wish to stop the SMTP Inbound Transport service until the problem is rectified.

To view the Service Control Page:

  1. Display the System Center Home page.
  2. Click Service Control. The Service Control page appears, listing the status of the Clearswift Gateway services.

To stop, start or restart a service:

  1. From the Service Control Page, select the service you want to stop, start or Closedrestart.

Selecting Restart causes the Clearswift Gateway to stop the service and start it again immediately.

NOTE: Grayed icons such as icon for service not under manual control in the Service column indicate services you cannot manually control.

  1. Click Stop, Start or Restart at the top of the Current Status table. The options available depend on the current status of the service.

A dialog appears indicating whether the action has been successful.

You may have to wait a few moments before the requested action completes. When the status changes, the Current Status table indicates the new status.
