Building Your Policy Step-by-Step

Building a content security policy is an iterative process, but the basic steps are:

1. Define the content rules

   Create new content rules or modify the supplied rules to define how the Gateway processes messages or web traffic. Content rules define what the Gateway should look for (What to Look For? clauses) and what to do if those things are detected (What to Do? actions).

   Use the supplied Policy References or create new references as required.

2. Configure your policy routes

   Policy routes specify the possible routes that messages or web traffic can take when arriving or leaving your organization. Content rules are applied to policy routes, defining the policy rules that will be applied to traffic directed along the route.

3. Configure your SpamLogic Settings

   SpamLogic controls the Gateway's perimeter spam defenses.

4. Apply the configuration

   Policy changes can only be applied by clicking Apply Configuration in the Task Panel. You must apply the configuration to each Gateway in a group of Peer Gateways for the changes to take effect.
