Missing Manager Detection

The Missing Manager Detection clause is a What To Look For? clause in a Missing Manager content rule, which looks for messages without a manager in the TO or CC fields.

You can also edit this clause when editing the global Manage Missing Manager Policy content rule, accessible by navigating to Policy > Missing Manager. For more information regarding the global policy, refer to Missing Manager Policy.

To define the clause in a content rule:

  1. Beside the Missing Manager Detection clause in the What To Look For? area of the content rule, click Click here to change these settings.
  2. By default, the content rule will always trigger if the message does not include the sender's manager but you can set the clause to ignore messages that meet certain conditions. Enable the check boxes if you want to:
    • Ignore messages where the sender is in the relationships list with no manager
    • Ignore messages that have no attachment

See Manager Relationships for more information on defining manager relationships, viewing a sender's manager, and updating this information.

  3. Click Save to record your changes.
The What To Look For? area of the content rule will now list all the conditions that must be met for the content rule to trigger.

You cannot add or delete What To Look For? clauses. To use different What To Look For? clauses, create another content rule using a suitable template.
