Adapting the Starter Policy

Although the starter policy provides a robust set of routes and content rules, you might want to adapt it to suit the specific needs of your organisation. For guidance, you might want to consider the following:

Examining the starter content rules and adding any unapplied rules to your routes as appropriate
Creating separate policy routes for traffic entering or leaving specific departments in your organisation

Check the starter content rules and discover what protection they provide?
To see the content rules applied to the policy, take the following steps:
1. From the Clearswift SECURE Web Gateway Home page, click Policy > Content Rules.
  
  The Manage Content Rules page is displayed.
  
  A list of available rules are listed. Rules that are applied to the policy have a against them.
2. Click on the rule you want to examine.
3. Click Edit.
  
  The policy route the rule is used on, the conditions required to trigger the rule, and the actions taken are described in the What To Look For?, and What To Do? panels.
Create Policy routes?

Before you create a policy route, you need to create Machine Lists for the client machines that are part of the route. For example, you might want to create a list for a particular department within your organization. You can then create a policy route that references the machine lists that have been created. To complete the policy route, you add any required content rules.
