Client Integrated Authentication using
Domain Controller
Client Integrated Authentication using
Domain Controller (NTLM) automatically authenticates the client's Windows
user name and password. The user
does not need to enter a name and password unless their browser cannot
authenticate against the domain controller, in which case the user is
prompted for an alternative. The password is never transmitted, only an
encrypted challenge/response. Authentication is performed using the domain
controller. Therefore, the Clearswift Gateway must belong to the domain.
You can choose between two modes for NTLM authentication:
To configure Client Integrated Authentication
using Domain Controller:
- From the System Center
Home page, click Proxy Settings.
The Proxy Settings page appears.
- Click Authentication Settings
to display the Authentication Settings page.
- Move the mouse pointer
over the User Authentication is Disabled/Enabled section, and click .
- Select Client
Integrated Authentication using Domain Controller, and click Save.
- Move the mouse pointer
over the NTLM Domain Controller section, and click .
- Select the Use domain controller radio button.
- Enter the fully qualified
Domain Name, administrator User Name, and administrator Password
of the domain controller whose domain you want the Gateway to join,
and click Save.
- Click Join domain in the task bar and enter the administrator User Name, and administrator Password
of the domain controller whose domain you want the Gateway to join,
and click Join.
- Move the mouse pointer
over the Apache Access Log section, and click . To enable or disable the generation of Apache Access logs, select or deselect the Enable Apache access logging check box.
To configure Client Integrated Authentication
using Multiple Domain Controllers:
After you have applied your configuration,
you can verify that users are being correctly authenticated.
To test authentication:
- From the System Center
Home page, click Proxy Settings.
The Proxy Settings page appears.
- Click Authentication Settings
to display the Authentication Settings page.
- Click Test Authentication.
The Test Authentication dialog appears.
- Enter a valid user name
and password combination, and click Run
Test.
