Provided you have the correct license features for each product, you can apply any combination of the following scanners:

You can also configure your anti-virus scanners to apply:
Heuristic scanning uses an analysis of potential threats to calculate the susceptibility of an attack. Heuristic anti-virus scanning can detect previously unknown viruses, as well as variants of existing viruses that are already known.
Behavioral scanning uses emulators to execute a file and analyze its behavior to determine if the file is performing malicious actions.
Behavioral scanning is enabled by default on a Sophos anti-virus scanner. You cannot disable this option. |
Cloud lookup enables the anti-virus engine to cross-reference potential threats with real-time data held by either Sophos Live Protect, Avira Cloud Protect, or Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), depending on which anti-virus scanners are enabled.
Avira will not scan correctly if the anti-virus scanner cannot connect to Avira Cloud Protect. |
In cases where the anti-virus scanner positively detects a file as malware, the anti-virus scanner reports meta data about this detected malware back to the anti-virus vendor. This includes the hash, normalised URL, and version of anti-virus in use. Source IP addresses of your infrastructure are ignored, and never saved, and the anti-virus vendor cannot identify your organization from the data returned. Enabling cloud lookup confirms your acceptance to these terms and conditions. |

Behavioral scanning includes Heuristic analysis on a Kaspersky Labs Anti-Virus scanner. You cannot enable Behavioral scanning without Heuristic scanning. However, you can enable Heuristic scanning without selecting the Behavioral scanning option. |
The selected anti-virus scanner displays the number of viruses it has detected since it was last installed, or since the statistics were last reset by the System Health page.
Enabled scanners apply to connected peers of the same type, and will be used on all policy routes involving the Detect Virus content rule. 'Enabled Scanners' is a system setting defined by your selection. Applying anti-virus scanners simultaneously might have an impact on the performance of the The virus counters measure the number of individual threats encountered by each scanner, rather than the number of messages affected. For more detailed information about affected messages, see Message Tracking or view the System Health page. |
