Specifying the Default Action of a Route

You can change the default action to be performed on requests and responses on the route, if required. The default action is the action Clearswift Gateway performs if no triggered content rule specifies an alternative action.

To edit a web default action:

  1. Move the pointer over the By Default Perform This Action section and click Click here to change these settings.
  1. Select the default action to perform, either  Allow the communication or Block the communication using.
  2. If you select Block the communication using, you must also specify a Block Page to be displayed when communication on the route is blocked. The content rules on this route will have no effect while the default action is block and the block page cannot be overridden; all traffic on the route will be blocked.
  3. If you select Allow the communication, you can also specify that access is only permitted according to the Time Policy schedule. Click the Only when the schedule allows access check box and specify the block page to be used when the schedule prohibits access.
  4. Select Allow the user to continue browsing if they acknowledge the block page to allow users to override the block page.
  5. You can select to display a Warning Page. See End User & Block Pages for further information.
  6. Click Save.
  7. If creating a new route, the Using This Schedule section will be displayed for completion.  See Specifying the Time Policy Schedule for more information about the Time Policy schedule.
  8. Apply the configuration.
