Proxy Configuration

Your Web Gateway acts as a proxy server on your network.

You can control the behaviour of your Gateway proxy in several ways. You can:

• Configure your Gateway to work in Explicit or Transparent mode
• Define the port your Gateway listens for incoming connections
• Apply authentication to establish the identity of users and what authentication method to use
• Use an upstream proxy to connect to the internet
• Configure progress server settings to provide users with useful information on file downloads
• Customise block and progress pages by adding your company or corporate logo
• Provide your users with information on acceptable Internet usage by configuring and displaying an Acceptable Use Page
• Improve the categorisation of URLs, by configuring your Gateway to submit unknown URLs to Clearswift
• Apply your security policy to users working remotely
• Manage cache
• Configure HTTPS settings
• Configure Transaction logging

• Proxy modes

  Your Gateway proxy needs to be configured for Explicit or Transparent mode. For details of these modes, configuration options including network considerations, see the Proxy Mode topic.

• Proxy Authentication
